Meet Our FlockEvery hen at Sara’s Pick of the Coop is special, each is an individual, and each is treated with great care. The flock consists of a wide variety of breeds, this is because different breeds lay different colored eggs. Check out photos of the flock here!
Meet Sara, the Chicken Wrangler!
For me, it all started when I was six years old. My dad came home from a hiking trip with a hen that he had found wandering the mountains. That hen taught me that chickens have unique personalities and brought me to enjoy raising them. I was known to my teacher in elementary school as “Chicken Woman”, because I always brought my baby chicks for show and tell. With the support of my family, I was able to learn about chickens hands on! By the age of fifteen I had 200+ chickens and was selling fresh eggs at the local farmer’s markets. It was a good feeling to be doing something I loved while at the same time contributing to my community. I had to leave the business behind when I left for Colorado State University, but now that I have finished my degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Business, I want nothing more than to live the American Dream. I want to wake up every morning with the satisfaction that I am doing what I love and what I am good at.
Where to find us?
